Just doing a quickie post today, since it's the first day of Autumn after all! Of course, I don't really have time to do a proper entry atm, since I've got like 3 major tests in the next few days, as well as all that anime I have to watch and finish beating FFIV!!! haha. So putting off updates for a bit, should pick back up late next week or the week after.
I always think this is going to happen when we work on piecewise functions.
Tomorrow is International Talk Like a Pirate Day! Are you ready to buckle your swashes and shiver some timbers, I know I am! I'm going to see if I can do it as completely casually as I can too, as if nothing is out of the ordinary. Of course, it isn't that abnormal for me anyway, but I digress.
HOLY CRAP BEST GAME EVER! Not really, but it's really awesome, creepy, confusing, and free! It's called Yume Nikki (Dream Diary) and it's a 16bit computer game made by the standard awesome/crazy Japanese people with too much time on their hands in RPGMaker (2003 I think). Anyway, I don't really understand the plot yet (if there is one), but you're a hikkikomori in your apartment (if you try to leave, your character just sits there shaking their head, I don't blame them). Anyway, you go to sleep, and then it's basically an adventure-based acid trip, like real dreams! Seriously, I can't properly describe this game, go play it yourself. Here's the download link. It's in .RAR, so make sure you can unzip that. Then you have to install the RPGMaker player(?) or something which is included, and change your unicode settings on your computer to Japanese. All the instructions are in the file, so it's not too hard to figure out.
So far, while I have no idea what I'm doing but wandering around mostly, I have found some items that can transform my character in the dream world. Namely, I can have long hair, blond hair, no face, be a severed head, traffic light, glowing neon, and a few other things. Notably, I can become a yuki-onna, who's pretty, and makes it snow wherever you are, which I used to put out a fire that was guarding a musical spaceship. No really. Why are you still reading my meaningless drivel, go play it already!
Nothing much to report on campus life. Half my classes are boring, my sink's been flooded for a day and maintenance hasn't gotten around to here yet, and the air conditioner keeps resetting itself. I went to anime club with Adrienne, but it was kinda boring since there was no anime and we were antisocial, but we did get chips and pizza and soda. We left early and went on an adventure, discovering the Rock Garden that has a bench with a journal full of stuff written in it. I might go back sometime and just sit there and read through some of the entries, it looks like it might be fun. Next adventure's going to either be exploring the tunnels or hunting down the duck pond. >:3
It's really hot in that Lecture Hall. I wonder who I can complain to?
In other classes, I had way too much fun with the English paper I turned in today, writing a second copy as a highly sarcastic version of netiquette from the POV of the internet. My partner laughed too much though, so Ms. Putzel came around and looked at it too. (by the way, it's funny because she slides around the classroom in a rolly-chair, so you don't see her coming usually) I offered to turn it in alongside our normal assingment, and she insisted I did. I can't wait to see what kind of a response I'll get back from that! XD
Touhou yay! I've started getting into the shooters again when I don't really have time to boot up FFIV, mainly Subterranean Animism. Somehow, not only have I managed to clear Iiji Modo with all 6 teams, but I tried Normal Mode again earlier today, and after being faceraped by Parsee in Stage 2, I somehow got all the way to the stage area after the Stage 5 midboss, a full level past my previous best attempt. Yuugi didn't even kill me once, it's a miracle! I think I'll keep trying a bit longer at that, I'd like to at least be able to fight Normal Mode Orin through once sometime. ;x
This week's theme was 'Pop is Dead'. Adrienne sorta got the idea right before I was able to do the shot, but there's like, no canned soda anywhere on campus. D: I like this one, though it would've been ever awesomer with a fish-eye. ;3
Now, back to ruthlessly slaughtering small woodland creatures until my trail of blood leads me to my next destination! Ho-hah!
This really happened, completely. Luckily, it only just started to rain after I got out of class. It was pouring after I got out of CompSci later though, which was awesome.
I FINALLY SAW THE LAST EPISODE OF HIGURASHI! GAH! Now I can die happy. Except not, since the Visual Novels are gonna be out starting in a couple months, and the manga's still a good ways from being translated, and I'll never actually be completely satisfied with Higurashi, as more is always required. ALWAYS. I just hope the second half of Umineko gives it some more epic points so it can properly compete. Chapter 4 was quite a good start though.
In other anime, Haruhi season 2 is finally over, in all it's mediocrity. Honestly, unless you're a hardcore Haruhi fan, I'd say just watch the first episode (Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody) and then wait another 2-3 years for Haruhi S3. No epic conclusion for you this time. =/
Went to see The Curious Savage on Thursday, and it was quite good. I honestly wasn't sure what the show was about, so I was relieved to discover it was a comedy. (The last few plays I've seen were really quite dry) My favorite characters were probably Fairy May and Paddy, thanks to their bizarrity. Ashley got bonus points for playing Wilhelmina, just because that's one of the most awesome names in forever, and Erik did a pretty good job as well, so long as he can keep under the gaze of the law, haha. There were a few odd things I saw, and a few more Erik and Ashley told me about afterwards, but I suppose it's not too bad? Heh, that's why you do a dress rehersal before the real thing. Break a greylag on the rest of your shows Erik! ;3
Happy Cirno Day everyone! And you better be happy, because today is the Strongest Day, possibly ever.
Today's entry is a day early for two reasons. The second being that I probably won't have time to make an entry tomorrow, since I'm actually going to see a play for the first time in over 500 years! Maybe not that long, but it's been a while. Erik's in a theatre group that's performing 'The Curious Savage', and because I'm special I get to see it free. I'll letCHA know how it was and how many times Erik screws up this weekend. =D
Holy carp, the Undefined Fantastic Object English patch is already out! That's crazy, since the game is less than a month old. So now I think the only Windows-era game that needs to be English-ized is Unthinkable Natural Law, and then I shall RULE THE WORLD! Or maybe just GENSOKYO! Or maybe I'll just get my arse kicked by Yuugi again. -_-;
Anyway! As of today I've survived one week of actual school. Technically I've been here for eleven days now, but classes started last Tuesday, so this is important! If I pretend maybe...
This week's photo was "The First Five Times." My first couple ideas were actually really awesome, but I couldn't get the time machine to work right without losing at least 3 meals off my meal plan, so I said screw it and just decided to stay within the boundaries of this dimension for the shot.
Got to do a psuedo-waterpark thing again! More inflatable slides appeared in Erickson Field on sunday, but this time there was water! There still wasn't much though, but it felt good toget dunked repeatedly into a small pool of water, especially after I went on the slip n' slide too fast and rolled through the mud past the end for a few feet, haha.
Spend most of the rest of the weekend doing homework or interbutting. I tried to get back into Oblivion with a magey character, but it's kinda uninteresting. I might remake a heavy fighter type to see what that's like. Still haven't done Shivering Isles or Dark Spire, but I dunno if I'll get to that this time. I also started playing FFIV DS, and have been brutally assaulted buy waves of Nostalgia.
Oh yeah, my finger's doing much better now, it usually only hurts when I clench my fist, so I figure it'll be back to normal next weekend sometime. Wheee!
Our Physics teacher literally said that about turning in late assignments. I thought it was pretty funny.
I'm not really going to type alot today, because I stubbed my right pinky jump/falling out of my bed earlier, and while it's not swollen or anything, it still hurts like hell. Even though you don't use them alot, it's amazing how much you depend on your pinky and ring fingers without realizing it.
Lesse, biked a half hour at the gym, and surprisingly wasn't sweaty or tired at all when I got back to my dorm. Looks like all the walking I'm doing helped warm up my legs enough not to be destroyed like after Capture the flag last week, haha.
STILL no Higurashi Rei 5 subs. Want moar Hirukowashi-hen NAO! T_T
And to all none of you who dare to wonder wtf is up with the end of the flash, I present to you, Neko Miko Reimu. I will not be held accountable for any sanity or narwals you lose during viewing said video.
I don't think I'll be making elaborate Flashes for a while unfortunately, just sort of quickies like this. Maybe on weekends unless I get bogged down with homework and/or Swine Flu (lawl). Yes, people are still freaking out about it.
Anyway, school is going well so far. Both my roommates and the guys next door are pretty cool, and they tend to leave the room alot anyway so I've got plenty of privacy and stuff. Though Jose needs to stop forgetting his phone, because it likes to go off every two minutes on the dot. Literally.
Welcome Week activities were lame for the most part, except the giant inflated aircraft carrier obstacle course/slide coming out of Erickson. I rode that thing over and over until I got too dizzy to continue, haha. Classes are okay so far, though I need to take a trip back to the bookstore tomorrow to rep my Physics text, get a Calc WebAccess thing, and probably sell back my CompSci book as well. Psych and English don't seem quite as bad as I was dreading, so Valedictorian should be easy to get, haha. Lastly, had a Quiz ZERO on the first class of Calc, where I barely managed to answer 9/15, and I'm only sure of about 6 of those. Good thing it's not graded, not really sure what it was for tbh.
Other than that, nothing much going on on campus. I've been dabbling in Oblivion to pass some of the time, and Rei's started to hang out from yesterday, in our preliminary exercises for taking over the school and turning it into Garden. Also random doings of stuff like watching Zoolander or playing Rubberbandball.
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Rei Episode 5 still isn't subbed. Me is a sad panda.
I think my recent break in Touhou has actually dulled my skills instead of increasing them for once. I've tried several times to get through UFO on Normal, but I keep dying on Murasa after her stage has its way with me. I've managed to make it to her survival card twice I think, but no dice. Guess I'll just stick with Oblivion for now, going all-mage is almost interesting enough to keep me playing a while, heh.
Finally, here's this week's picture: "Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks." The shitty quality is my fault, I completely forgot to compensate for ISO when using Tungsten light. Bleargh. Well, next week marks the first photo done at UMBC! Woo! *explodes*
